GLO CLUB OSTRAVA

The GLO stage project at the Colours of Ostrava festival proves that even the least pleasant place can be transformed into a space that offers atmosphere and experiences that can also be combined. A relaxation zone and a music event with full facilities can then be accommodated in one place.

LIGHTS AND STRUCTURE AS INSPIRATION

The project involved the partial and temporary revitalization of the former washrooms. The aim was to create a multifunctional zone for music events, including facilities for festival visitors. A key aspect of the design was to minimize interference with the existing structures of the historic building in the Dolní Vítkovice complex.

The zone included not only a music stage with a bar, but also important areas such as social facilities and a relaxation area, which are equally essential for the comfort of festival visitors. All areas were fully integrated into the overall design, allowing the original building to offer a functional, pleasant, and aesthetic environment.

The overarching design element of the zone was the lighting scenography of the individual spaces. Their dynamic transformations throughout the day and the entire festival provided a variety of atmospheres and experiences, from harmonious and relaxing during the day to dramatic transformations and highlighting of the music club at night. The zone was furnished mainly with simple and functional furniture, which also emphasized the overall concept of the design.

The use of lighting elements and installations made it possible to delineate and define specific spaces in a minimalist manner without interfering with the original structures. Rather than completely transforming the building, the aim was to highlight its spatial qualities and accentuate the atmosphere in the place and time when it was needed.
