Architecture and urbanism
Our approach is based on complexity, we try to solve specific tasks at all scales, from individual details to the city as a whole and vice versa. Efficiency and quality of the created environment are key elements. We base our work on understanding the needs and individual solutions for each client.
With a passion for innovation and precision, we use specific methods, analyses, and approaches to achieve an optimal harmonious connection between architecture and the surrounding environment. Our work reflects not only aesthetic value but also functionality. We create environments that reflect the needs and aspirations of our clients.
Data analytics
In our opinion, a suitable architectural solution must be based on precise analysis and understanding of the context and environment. For this purpose, we use available spatial data. These are then analyzed, processed, and further utilized to the extent necessary for each specific project.
The correct understanding and evaluation of all relationships in the area is the foundation of our work. For these needs, we use geoinformation software, parametric tools, and carefully evaluate the outputs. Whether it's the scale of a plot, a set of buildings, a wider urban, or even a regional whole, we are able to design an adequate system of data structures and use their results for optimal solutions.
Permitting process
Architecture is about communication. Discussion, consultation, and explanation of aspects of our projects towards government authorities or the public is an integral part of our work.
Projects for us do not end with visualizations; our goal is the realization of intentions, for which the discussion of the permitting process is essential. To the extent adequate for each design phase, we communicate with authorities and concerned bodies to ensure the successful realization of intentions.
We have gone through the complexities of the entire process up to the commissioning of the intention countless times, and solving all the pitfalls and problems is our daily work. Members of our team also have experience in public administration or spatial planning, and knowledge of the legislative framework of the architectural profession is key to our work.
Construction process
As architects, we approach the construction process of intentions within the framework of authorial supervision with an emphasis on precision. We oversee key details in the context of their impacts on the entire building.
Our philosophy lies in ensuring high quality of execution from the initial construction work to the final completion. With careful monitoring of each construction phase, we ensure that each project carries our architectural values and meets the expectations of clients.
We collaborate with various construction suppliers focusing on different scales and detail. If required by the client, we are capable of ensuring the comprehensive realization of a construction intention.
Collaboration with universities and research
Innovation, education, and understanding the direction of architectural development are the driving forces of our work. Members of the UPSTRUCTURE team are closely associated with universities both in the Czech Republic and abroad, such as in Germany or Switzerland. They are part of research teams dealing with robotics in architecture or geoinformation systems. The results of this activity are then transferred to our architectural work.
Teaching and contact with students bring new insights into our work. In this area, we collaborate especially with affiliated studios at the Faculty of Architecture CTU such as Sitta or FLOW. In teaching, we focus mainly on the comprehensive perception of space and the integration of data tools, architecture, urbanism, and landscape architecture.
BIM & AI
In our studio, we actively use the tools provided by BIM programs. Drawing and designing in BIM programs is an integral part of our work. We continue to deepen and expand our knowledge of these drawing programs with each update.
Artificial intelligence tools are becoming an integral part of our everyday lives, both personally and professionally. In our studio, we actively use artificial intelligence and encourage our colleagues to use it in various aspects of our work.
We currently use Archicad from the BIM programs and Midjourney, Nanobana, ChatGPT, and others from the AI engines.
Podcast ABSTRAKT
One of the new areas of our work is the production of the ABSTRAKT podcast. This podcast is dedicated to all topics related to the city and life in it. In each episode, we welcome a new guest with whom we explore answers to various questions and topics.
Why do the cities around us look the way they do? Who is responsible for the current housing crisis? What decisions shape the environment around us? And who makes these decisions? A discussion with guests who have insight into these processes.
