ARCHITECTURAL CONCEPT
The architecture of the RE:CREATION pavilion is inspired by the process of creating harmonious recreational environments, during which a portion of the natural environment is transformed into a space for human relaxation.
The RE:CREATION concept is not just about thematizing the pavilion as a place of recreation and relaxation, but it primarily follows the strong transformative potential of architecture – whether in terms of material transformation, the sense of metamorphosis of form, or the potential to change visitors' perspectives on the Czech Republic.
Each of the meanings of RE:CREATION manifests itself in a different sphere – recreation becomes the motif of the pavilion and defines its content, material transformation is reflected in the structural and material solutions, with the whole always being perceived through the prism of the human, whose transformation the space aims for.
RE:CREATION CONCEPT
The architectural layout of the pavilion is divided into three main floors, where visitors gradually pass through a part representing the pre-digital past on the ground floor, the digital present on the first floor, and finally, onto the rooftop landscape envisioning the post-digital future.
The ground floor of the pavilion is open to the main pedestrian promenade at the edge of the ocean, becoming an integral part of it and enticing passersby with its visual concept and aromas. Visitors have the opportunity to glimpse into a Czech forest, which serves as the symbolic first stage of the exhibition structure representing evolution and the pre-digital era, where humans find relaxation, inspiration, and energy in harmony with nature.
Here, there is a complete renewal of body and spirit. The forest becomes the gateway to the Czech pavilion. Visitors experience contact with nature here, and at the same time, their journey of recreation begins.
CONSTRUCTION DESIGN
The building is structurally designed as a column structure, with an inner ring around the atrium and a solid core at the rear of the pavilion. The load-bearing structure of the braced column system with a grid of 3.6 x 3.6 meters is founded on piles and is supported by a solid core consisting of

The predominant materials used are wooden beams, CLT panels, and steel prefabricated elements for structural reinforcement. The first floor is supported by massive untreated wooden columns - logs, which are connected to the floor laminated beams and CLT panels via steel connectors. For lower loads in the outer part of the floor, a lightweight facade cladding made of polycarbonate panels is designed, which is supported by profiled wooden beams. The second floor is structurally designed using processed wooden beams, supporting a sloping ceiling made of CLT panels.

ENERGETIC CONCEPT
To reduce the energy consumption of the pavilion, air conditioning is planned only for the rear parts of the pavilion, intended for staff and administrative employees. To minimize heat loss, the cooled spaces are designed to have the most compact volume possible. The non-air-conditioned exhibition areas of the pavilion, from which entry is made into the cooled facilities, serve as a buffer zone to limit heat loss.
The main exhibition areas of the pavilion will be naturally ventilated, and there is no need for HVAC ductwork in them. The principle of natural ventilation utilized does not require electrical energy for its
operation; it relies on wind pressure and the chimney effect.
