The family house is located on a site overlooking the Vltava River. The view is intentionally emphasized through large-format windows, which provide panoramic views and maintain a connection with nature throughout the year.
The family house is designed as a two-storey building. The design combines modern materials with traditional construction methods. The ground floor is conceived as a monolithic reinforced concrete structure, forming a stable base for the building. The first floor consists of a heavy timber frame made of glued laminated timber (glulam), designed to contrast with the concrete base.
CONSTRUCTION IS THE IDEA
The timber frame forms both the visual and structural highlight of the building. It is designed with an emphasis on precision and efficiency. The elements are manufactured using CNC technology and preassembled in the workshop, which accelerates both production and on-site installation.
The timber joints and connection details are designed and manufactured with a high level of precision and control. They are intentionally exposed in the interior, giving the house a clearly legible character and emphasizing the structural logic of the construction. In this way, modern fabrication is combined with traditional craftsmanship.
The interior is based on natural materials and an open layout. The living area, kitchen, and dining space are connected to allow the interior to work with natural light and airflow. Large-format windows and glazed walls link the interior with the exterior while maintaining views of the surrounding landscape. The material palette primarily uses wood and stone, with an emphasis on practical functionality and efficient use of space.
