MOUNTAIN APARTMENT INTERIOR
Design and implementation of an apartment interior in Špindlerův Mlýn. The interior emphasizes simplicity and coherence. The entire space is unified into a palette of a few materials, dominated by natural spruce rough-cut wood.
The impression of roughness and rawness of a mountain cabin is complemented by delicate work with light and the varied atmosphere of different parts of the apartment.
The weekend apartment is part of a newly renovated former guesthouse in Špindlerův Mlýn. It is located on the ground floor of a house set on a hill at the end of the road, allowing the apartment windows to frame the view of the Krkonoše landscape undisturbed. The apartment's interior originally underwent renovation, but it was unsatisfactory for the current owner, who decided on a complete renovation, including replacing floors, ceilings, all equipment, sanitary facilities, etc.
Based on his requirements, a warm interior evoking a mountain cabin with a slight industrial touch was created, with natural wood in several shape and surface variations as the main motif.
The 110 m2 apartment is divided into several rooms by the entrance hall - a bedroom, children's room, guest room, and the main living space with a kitchen. The interior is unified into a palette of a few materials, dominated by natural spruce wood, very light gray paint, and a concrete ceiling with exposed cable ducts that runs throughout the apartment.
The interior emphasizes simplicity and coherence. The wooden floor in the hallway and main space transitions into natural spruce cladding on the walls. The wood's structure is enhanced by a relatively thick veneer and its subsequent roughening, which adds to the material's roughness and rawness. The same material is also found in individual pieces of furniture, unifying the interior, except for the kitchen, which is stained dark grey and, together with the island, separates from the living area. This room is dominated by a large wooden dining table with pendant lamps and plank cladding with a bench in the background. The rest of the interior is in shades of grey, soft pastel colors, always with a black accent.
The same theme is carried into the bedrooms, where wooden floors are replaced with soft carpet, and the bathrooms with large-format ceramic tiles complemented by concrete and steel details. The impression of a mountain cabin is aided by the warm light of independently hanging bulbs throughout the apartment and an alcohol fireplace in the corner of the living area. Individual places in the interior are complemented by hanging or attached lights, each creating a different, whether day or night, atmosphere.
